Selva di Cadore – Fiorentina valley Selva di Cadore is a charming village 1350 m above sea level in the sunny Fiorentina valley. Thanks to its picturesque and ancient hamlets surrounded by widespread meadows and woods, it fully preserves the peculiarities of an alpine village. Set in the dramatic frame of the "pale mountains", Selva di Cadore rises at the foot of the mountain Pelmo, which belongs to the first Dolomites area in the UNESCO world natural heritage site. The wild setting of the Cernera massif separates Selva di Cadore from the Cortina d’Ampezzo valley. On the background rise the Civetta mountain and the Marmolada glacier.
Val Fiorentina offers the possibility of numerous excursions, suitable for both experienced and trained, and those who ventured for the first time to walk on a few mountain trails.
The starting points for the hiking tours are spread all over our territory, either directly from the surroundings of the town, or a few minutes by car or using the bus service. During July and August, the opening of the lifts allows even less trained to enjoy the beautiful high-altitude views. Pescul is the starting point of the first of two ski lifts leading to the top of Mount Fertazza, an extremely scenic and stunningly beautiful place.
The Pescul hamlet is the starting point for skiing. In fact, Selva di Cadore is located in the middle of the Civetta ski circuit with over 80 km of downhill runs: the 4-kilometres-long "Salere" slope, leading from the Fertazza summit to Pescul, is considered as being the red slope "par excellence". Approximately 2 km from there, at the foot of the Pelmo mountain, wind several cross-country ski trails. To the important Vittorino Cazzetta museum belongs the Mesolithic grave of the "Uomo di Mondeval", which is considered as of huge scientific significance. Selva di Cadore, deep rooted in the Ladin tradition, welcomes the guests cheerfully and simply, for an unforgettable holiday.
